If you’re new to the cosmetic tattoo game & aren’t sure what service is right for you, we are here to help! Send us a quick email [hello@boltbrow.com] & give us all the details. Include some clear photos (with & without makeup), tell us about your areas of concern, what kind of makeup products you currently use, etc. & we will steer you in the right direction. Additionally click here to see if you are a candidate for permanent makeup.
NOTE: this is not a requirement unless you have previous work from a non-Bolt Brow artist. A thorough consultation is part of your first appointment with us — before we do any tattooing.

For all PMU procedures we require a deposit, which is applied towards your first session. Clients pay majority of their appointment at their first session, and the remaining $100 at their second session touch up. For example if Microblading costs $500, clients pay a $100 deposit to secure appointment, then at their first session they pay $300. Lastly in 6 weeks clients return for their second session where they pay the remaining $100. (totaling $500)

If you aren’t ready to commit to an eyebrow tattoo we recommend booking a shape and tint to dip your toes in.
If you are ready to have perfect eyebrows forever, but aren’t sure which service is best for you a good rule of thumb is to start with microblading or nano. Shading can always be added at your touch up or at any point in the future if you feel as though the strokework isn’t enough (microblading/nano can be turned into a combo or powder brow). But we can’t go the other way around (powder to microblading/nano). -
We are an appointment only studio, meaning we are only here when we have appointments booked. We hold loose business hours Mon-Sat 10am - 7pm— if you need to schedule an appointment outside of that time frame send us an email and we are happy to accommodate ealier, later, or even Sundays!
-
New client appointments can only be rescheduled if we are given24+hours notice.
Appintments may be rescheduled once as a courtesy. If a second reschedule occurs, you will be asked to rebook online & pay another booking fee.
Clients have 7 days to reschedule before deposit is forfeited.No-showing your appointment automatically forfeits your booking fee & you will be asked to rebook online.
We hold a 3 strike policy for tardiness & no-shows. -
We prefer cash—we also take cards, gift cards, apple pay, & afterpay.
-
There is free street parking all around.
Trenton Ave (the cobblestone road behind the studio) has plenty of pull-in spaces -- no parallel parking there!

We take on cover ups on a case by case basis, we need to first approve your current brows before you book.
Please email us hello@boltbrow.com and include all information pertinent to your previous work. An additional $100 fee is added to all cover up work— even if your brows were tattooed 30 years ago if we can see the previous tattoo, it’s considered a cover up.
We would like to mention that removal is ideal and also preferred. We recommend Removery in center city. -
It shouldn’t! You will be numbed twice during your procedure. Once topically for 20+ minutes when you arrive & again after the first pass.
Most clients do not feel any discomfort. In rare highly sensitive cases, the pain level has been about a 2 (out of 10). The post-procedure sensation has been compared to a minor sunburn. This discomfort passes after 24-48 hours.
-
Right at your designated appointment time. We include your numbing and paperwork time in your appointment so there’s no need to show up extra early!
-
Cosmetic tattoo appointment lengths at Bolt Brow vary depending on the service you book & who you book it with. Our apprentices are still “in training” so they tend to have longer procedure times whereas our more experienced artists take much less. Pro tip: Give yourself a large cushion of time, tattooing should never be rushed and times vary client to client.

For some of our microblading clients we recommend a dry heal, for combo & powder brow we encourage a wet heal. We diagnose once we’ve worked with your skin, your artist will let you know what suits your skin best!
-
Yes! It’s important to note that with some darker skin tones, stroke visibility will not be as bold right away. Clients see results after a few weeks.

Every artist has a different level of expertise and their services are priced to reflect that.
-
Yes! Our industry is a tipped industry (beauty/tattoo). While we do not expect tips, we accept tips! Cash or Venmo are the best way to tip your artist. Please note this is not mandatory, but courteous.
-
Depending on service, touch ups are scheduled 6 - 12 weeks after initial. This is mandatory! If you don’t receive your 2nd session within this timeframe the work is considered incomplete - and you will have to wait a year until you can get them tattooed again.
-
Please do not! We want you to come in with as much brow hair as possible— let your brows grow wild until your appointment & we will take care of the rest.
-
When you get your brows done by any of our artists at Bolt Brow you are a client for life, we will never charge you as a new client again regardless of how many years have passed. You can book a maintenance appointment at any time!
-
In the tattoo world, reworking, covering, fixing tattoos done elsewhere is difficult and requires expertise. We take in consideration shape, any scar tissue you may have, and the compatibility of the old pigments already in your skin and the new ones we introduce, many times we need to tone and neutralize unwanted colors before being able to deposit the color we prefer. This is why there is a $100 charge for cover ups.

We ask for a minimum of 3-4 weeks after lip injections to book with our lip blushing artists.
-
We recommend getting botox a minimum of 2 weeks before your brow appointment.
Please get lip fillers before your lip blushing appointment and allow enough time for all swelling and bruising to go away before getting your lips tattooed, roughly about a month. -
Actives need to be stopped at least 2 weeks before getting PMU.
We love skincare, but active ingredients will cause premature fading of your facial tattoos post-procedure. We recommend being mindful and using these products at least 1” away from the tattooed area indefinitely.
PMU aftercare tips:
-Be careful/mindful of tattooed area
-When in doubt contact us! (Email hello@boltbrow.com)
-Do not hyper focus, things will shift & even out during the healing stage
-“trust the process!”
